He was a perfect gentleman...

I had looked at smitty0623's profile picture several times before I actually sent him a smile. I'd been on the site for a while and had been burned a couple of times so in all honesty, I'd almost given up on the process entirely when something told me to just suck it up and send the communication. What could it hurt?

He emailed me back right away and we started chatting. I'm a pretty forward person and I think you can tell a lot about a person in their voice so I gave him my phone number after only one night of instant messaging and we spent the next week glued to the phone on lunch breaks and in the evening when we both got home from work. It took him about 3 days to ask me out on a date. Luckily he lived not too far away, so we agreed to meet that weekend at a mall (yes, a public place. He was super nice, but this is still online dating people).

We had the most incredible date I have ever had. He was a perfect gentleman and I didn't want the evening to end. There was major promise here, but again, I'd been burned before so I wanted to take things slow and see how they progressed. A week after our first date I had previously made plans to go to Los Angeles with some of my girlfriends. He took me to the airport that morning and kissed me good-bye promising to be there when I got back, and I promised to text him lots while I was away. Then I boarded my plane, buckled into my seat, the doors closed and I started to miss him. Cheesy right? I couldn't help it! I texted him the minute I got off of the plane, and called him shortly thereafter. He asked me to be his girlfriend (he's old fashioned and adorable) during that phone call and we have been inseparable since.

He surprised me during the Holidays when he asked me to marry him. I said yes and we are planning a March of 2011 wedding. My advice to you girls out there is...trust your instincts, believe in the process and don't give up. He's out there.
